Duncreggan Student Village
The Magee campus in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland’s second city, is situated on a magnificent elevated position overlooking the River Foyle. The main building dates from the mid-nineteenth century when it was founded as Magee College, and many of its unique Neo-Gothic architectural heritage remains. There are many state of the art buildings housing laboratories, workshops, lecture theatres and drama/dance studios.
The campus has a range of restaurants and cafes and is within easy walking distance of Derrys vibrant city. Derry itself has excellent bus and train services to other parts of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. It is also very close to the border with Co. Donegal.
Duncreggan Student village comprises of fourteen, three storey blocks offering a mixture of self catering accommodation ranging from newly built en-suite study bedrooms to a selection with shared bathrooms.The original 3-block development has 158 single standard study bedrooms, in 2 and 5 bedroom apartments. At the access to the site there is a 3G floodlit football and hockey pitch, a large grass pitch and a multi-purpose Sports Pavilion.
At Magee Campus all apartments have access to broadband with a WiFi facility for educational use through the university network. A fully fitted convenience shop is available within the Duncreggan Student Village adjacent to the Block 4 office.
Standard Study Bedrooms
These standard bedrooms come in 2 and 5 bedrooms apartments. They have a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, with shared shower and toilet facilities. Each flat contains a generously spacious and furnished lounge area ideal for socialising.
Within the Student Village we also have a development of 398 student bed spaces, which comprises a fully equipped ensuite study bedrooms, in apartments which will accommodate 6-8 people. All of these apartments have recently been fitted with dishwashers.

There are a number of ensuite bedrooms which are more spacious in size and would suit an overseas student or students bringing additional equipment such as musical instruments etc. These enhanced sized bedrooms are located in what is termed luxury accommodation as these six bedroom apartments not offer additional bedroom and living space but also contain a coffee machine, sofa, a TV and DVD player.
There are also a number of twin rooms available which are ideally suited to couples, siblings or best friends who wish to share. They also may appeal to those residents looking for additional space. These rooms can come with twin beds for dual or occupancy although can be let as single.
This preference needs to be stated at the time of application. Additionally these rooms have larger workspaces, more shelving, double wardrobes, extra electrical outlets and a larger floor area.
All accommodation at Duncreggan comes with a fully fitted and equipped communal kitchen/diner and has access to a laundrette. The entire Duncreggan Student Village site has secure access control, is monitored by CCTV and each block is fitted with emergency telephones. There are Resident Assistants available to provide advice and assistance and Night Support Assistants employed throughout the night. In addition the complex includes secure off road car parking.
Additional Requirements Accommodation
There are a limited number of ground floor two bedroom flats in the Student Village, which have been built to mobility standard. Study bedrooms are very generous in terms of space and each has an en-suite shower and toilet with wheelchair access. There are a number of integrated mobility rooms witin the 4 and 6 bedroom apartment units.
